The Egyptian-Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling, and Concentrates is participating for the third consecutive year in the World Food Istanbul 2024 exhibition, taking place from September 3 to 6.
Ahmed El-Sebaai, General Manager of the Egyptian-Swiss Group, stated that this year’s participation follows the success achieved during the group’s previous participations in 2022 and 2023.
El-Sebaai revealed that the group managed to attract new clients from the exhibition in the past two years, in addition to this year’s event, across various markets, including Turkey. He noted that although Turkey is one of the major competitors to Egyptian products, especially pasta and flour in Africa, the group successfully secured contracts with Turkish buyers over the last two years.
The participation is part of the Egyptian pavilion for food industry companies, organized by the Food Export Council. It includes a diverse range of leading exporting companies offering highly competitive products in terms of both quality and price.
El-Sebaai also highlighted that pasta export volumes have surged this year, with the recovery of markets that were affected by the export ban during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the Egyptian product has successfully met the increasing demand from neighboring countries in Africa and Asia.
World Food Istanbul is the premier international food and beverage exhibition in Turkey. It offers participating companies the chance to connect directly with importers, retail chains, and wholesale traders from across the globe. The exhibition also hosts the largest buyer recruitment mission alongside its activities.
The Egyptian-Swiss Group began its operations in 1995 through flour trading, following the deregulation of flour prices. Subsequently, it ventured into manufacturing by establishing a flour mill in Asyut. Three years later, the group expanded by setting up another mill in Borg El Arab, distributing flour to the local market.
The group further expanded into the pasta industry by establishing a pasta factory in 10th of Ramadan City with a production capacity of 7,500 tons per month. Later, it added a tomato sauce factory with a monthly production capacity of 3,500 tons, capitalizing on the pasta distribution network. The group also built a massive flour mill with two production lines, achieving a milling capacity of 1,500 tons per day, and operates grain silos with a storage capacity of 50,000 tons of wheat.
