Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt Draws Global Spotlight with Spring Meeting in Cairo

The Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt (ATCE) proudly hosts the annual Spring Meeting of the International Automobile Federation (FIA Region I), a four-day event which commences tomorrow on May 13th. This momentous event convenes over 180 leaders and presidents of automobile and mobility clubs from 60 countries across Europe, the Middle East, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Africa.

In a historic first, Egypt welcomes the FIA Region I’s annual gathering, solidifying the country’s growing presence in the international automotive landscape. The meetings are held at the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis hotel, with a special Gala Dinner taking place at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The Spring Meeting is part of a year-long lineup of unique and innovative events celebrating the club’s centenary anniversary, marking 100 years since its establishment in 1924.

“This event is a cornerstone of our year-long celebration of the Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt’s centenary anniversary, serving as a testament to the club’s unwavering commitment to its social, tourism, road safety, and motorsports roles,” stated Eng. Ali Eissa, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt. “We are immensely proud to showcase Egypt’s rich heritage and capabilities to such a distinguished audience.”

“The centennial anniversary marks a major milestone, honoring our rich legacy while driving towards an even more impactful future,” added Mr. Mohammed Askar, ATCE’s Vice President, CEO, and Head of the Centennial Committee. “The spring meeting’s sessions are led by Mr. Jorge F. Delgado, President of FIA Region I, with the essential presence of FIA President Mr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, his deputies, and other prominent figures in the global mobility and motorsports community.”

The Automobile and Touring Club of Egypt’s 100-year celebration has received widespread acclaim from Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and numerous international organizations.

Highlights include a nostalgic parade of classic and historic cars in April aligning with the Sinai Liberation anniversary. In August 2024, the club will roar to life with exhilarating motorcycle rallies and car competitions in Al Alamein, showcasing Drift, Twin Drift, Rally, and Drag Race events. The club is also organizing crucial road safety workshops to enhance awareness about driving precautions on Egypt’s roadways.
