For the 5th year the CIB Egyptian Open Squash Tournament, ranked among the PSA top four tournaments worldwide, is set to take place in Cairo’s new up and coming sports club at O West under the patronage of the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Tourism. This year’s edition marks a historic milestone as the first-ever Diamond Tier tournament in squash history,
The tournament, powered by Commercial International Bank (CIB), hosted by O West, and presented by I-Events features 48 male and 48 female players from 25 countries. With 64 players in the qualifying competitions, the total number of participants across all rounds reaches 152. The qualifying stage will occur from August 26th to 28th, leading to the main draw from August 30th to September 6th 2024.
The event is renowned for a total prize fund of $650,000, equally distributed among male and female competitors. Scheduled over eight days, the tournament will commence with the first and second-round matches on August 30th and 31st at the Squash Complex, followed by third-round matches on September 1st and 2nd at both the Complex and Glass Court. The quarter-finals will be held on September 3rd and 4th, with the semi-finals and finals taking place on September 5th and 6th at the Glass Court.
The CIB Egyptian Open is expected to draw significant attention, with 1,000 spectators in the stands and over 150,000 digital spectators worldwide. Recognized as one of the biggest four squash tournaments globally, the event will feature 50 matches broadcasted on television in over 110 countries. Squash TV will cover 450 matches digitally, with highlights and news content distributed to global media outlets.
