Madinet Masr (stock code MNHD.CA), one of Egypt’s leading urban community developers, announced the launch of a medical convoy on July 30th and 31st, 2023, in Assiut Governorate under the patronage of Major General/ Essam Saad, Governor of Assiut, in cooperation with Misr El-Kheir Foundation to provide the necessary medical services and care to the neediest groups in the governorate and enable them with full access and care.
The cooperation stems from Madinat Masr’s social responsibility and continuous efforts to improve the quality of life in the communities where it operates, especially those in need. Besides its expansion plan and the development of its land portfolio, this is a key pillar of its strategy, which will be reflected on the ground into building sustainable communities from both a material and moral standpoint.
In an unprecedented collaboration, Madinet Masr and Misr El-Kheir Foundation have joined forces to inaugurate a medical convoy. There are approximately more than 400 patients who will be examined during this time, and all the necessary medical interventions will be provided in various specialties, including internal medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics, otolaryngology, urology, surgery, gynecology, and cardiology. Highly skilled specialists and consultants will utilize the latest medical equipment to ensure accurate diagnosis. The convoy also has an integrated pharmacy with all types of medications needed by the patient after the doctor determines the type of treatment required, in addition to performing surgeries for the beneficiaries and following up on them after the convoy while providing their means of transportation. The medical convoy is stationed in the health unit in the village of Abnoub to serve it and all neighboring villages as well.
For his part, Major General Essam Saad, Governor of Assiut, commented on this event, saying, “The launch of the medical convoy is an embodiment of the State’s vision that encourages partnerships between the private sector and civil society to improve the quality of health services, especially for the unfortunate groups of the Egyptian citizens. We are pleased with the developmental role of private sector companies such as Madinat Masr and their endeavor to develop Egyptian communities by participating in initiatives and projects that provide job opportunities and support the Egyptian economy as well as the communities where their projects are built, as is happening in Assiut Governorate.”
Commenting on the launch of the medical convoy in Assiut Governorate, Eng. Abdullah Sallam, President and CEO of Madinet Masr, said, “Supporting local communities is one of Madinet Masr’s priorities and a key pillar of its strategy. With that in mind, cooperation with Misr El-Kheir Foundation, one of the largest charitable institutions in Egypt, came in providing medical services at the highest level to the neediest groups in Assiut Governorate. The medical convoy aligns with our strategy to launch social responsibility initiatives that take care of the most vulnerable groups, especially after the company launched its new project ‘Zahw’ in the same governorate, and we are constantly looking forward to launching initiatives to provide services and care to the unfortunate groups in various parts of Egypt.”
Mrs. Afaf El Gohary, Head of the Health Sector at Misr El-Kheir Foundation, added: “The health sector of the foundation conducts an all-inclusive survey to determine the needed medical specialties and medications for the eligible patients in the under privileged places, in collaboration with its office in Assiut to arrange all logistics before the medical convoy kicks off. The convoy also encompasses a mobile laboratory and pharmacy to conduct the required tests, with results available within 10 minutes after performing the examination by the specialized physician and provide the required medicines.”
The medical convoy is held in the medical unit in the village of Abnoub, and it aims to secure access to health services, especially for residents of remote areas and the most in need of these services in Assiut Governorate, a goal shared by Madinet Masr with Misr El-Kheir Foundation, launching medical convoys to provide services in the field of disease detection and necessary and effective treatment in the most needy villages as a result of the lack of capabilities or the difficulty of accessing these areas, in addition to participating in the development of those areas by raising the level of health of their residents. The medical convoy includes 16 doctors and nurses, and 4 pharmacists to provide the best possible health service to the residents of Assiut Governorate.
The launch of the medical convoy is the first social responsibility initiative after the launch of the ‘Zahw’ project, and its second initiative after the Iftar program on Ramadan 2023 that targeted Iftar for 250 fasting people per day and donating 10,000 food cartons to serve 53,000 families from the same governorate.
