Sisi appoints Mohamed Farid as acting Chairman of FRA for a year

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued Resolution No. 353 of 2022 assigning  Mohamed Farid Saleh to act as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) for a period of one year, as of August 7, 2022.

According to FRA’s statement, Mohamed Farid Saleh has been appointed as the Chairman of the Egyptian Stock Exchange since August 2017, according to Prime Minister Decision No. 1759/2017.

Farid is currently the elected President of the Eurasian Federation of Exchanges, a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of African Stock Exchanges, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Arab Capital Markets.

Moreover, Farid held the position of Chairman of the Federation of Arab Capital Markets during the period from April 2019 to April 2021.

From 2013 to 2016, he held the position of advisor for financial leasing and venture capital affairs at the World Bank – Egypt.

The current head of the Egyptian Exchange was also a member of the Capital Market Advisory Committee established by the Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority.

In addition, he served as Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Stock Exchange in 2010-2011.

Farid holds a PhD in “Economics of Finance” from Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.

He holds a Master’s degree in Quantitative Science related to Finance (MSc. Quantitative Finance) – Bayes School of Business, (Cass Business School) – University of London, United Kingdom.

He also obtained a Master of Science in Economics, specializing in Project Analysis, Investment and Finance (MSc. Project Analysis, Finance & Investment) – from York University – United Kingdom.

Moreover, he obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Banking and Finance (MBA Finance & Banking) – Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Egypt.

Farid holds a certificate in the Venture Capital Program – UC Berkeley – United States, and a certificate in the Specialized Program for Investment in Economics Analysis – (Econometrics Summer School) – University of Cambridge – United Kingdom .

Chairman of the FRA holds a BA in Foreign Trade and Economics from Helwan University.

He has also served as a lecturer in Financial Markets, International Finance, and Derivatives at the American University in Egypt (AUC) and at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST), and Farid previously served as Chairman and Managing Director of Dcode EFC, a leading company in the field of economic consulting in Egypt.
