The 5th CIB Egyptian Open Squash Championship has successfully wrapped up at the O West Sports Club, powered by Commercial International Bank (CIB), presented by I-Events and sponsored by Lamar Egypt,
with Mostafa Asal emerging as the men’s champion and Nour El Sherbini taking the women’s title. These victories, celebrated in front of an enthusiastic crowd, come with a share of the $650,000 prize pool which is split equally between both draws —the largest ever awarded in Squash.
The CIB Egyptian Open is the professional squash’s first Diamond tier event and the first major title on offer during the 2024-25 professional squash season, with a 48-man and 48-woman draw battling for the trophy.
The tournament, a landmark in the sport’s history as the first-ever Diamond Squash Tournament under the Professional Squash Association (PSA), brought together 152 top players from 25 countries. Hosted under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, the event has solidified Egypt’s reputation as a premier destination for international sports.
Among the notable attendees were General. Ismail El Far, Deputy of the Sports and Youth Minister, Mr. Alex Gough, Chief Executive Officer of the Professional Squash Association, and Mr. Assem Khalifa, Egyptian Squash Federation President, who witnessed firsthand the high level of competition and the world-class facilities and infrastructure at O West that guarantee its ability to host this event, as well as other events, on a global scale.
