Standard Chartered Appoints Ceo For Its Branch In Egypt

Standard Chartered announced the appointment of Mohammed Gad as Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Egypt, effective immediately.

Mohammed is the first CEO of Standard Chartered’s branch in Egypt. Prior to this, the Bank operated a representative office. With over 22 years of experience, Mohammed joined Standard Chartered in 2012 and has since held senior roles at the Bank including CEO of Qatar, where he successfully helped strengthen the franchise in the State of Qatar. He was also Country Head of Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (CCIB) responsible for delivering the Bank’s strategy and deepening client relationships amid diverse market cycles. A seasoned banking professional, prior to joining Standard Chartered Mohammed held multiple leadership roles at Mashreq Bank and Arab Bank.

Standard Chartered Egypt received its full banking license in November 2022, where it will provide banking services to sovereign and government related entities, large corporates, financial institutions and multinational companies operating in the country.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr Boutros Klink, CEO Standard Chartered Middle East (excluding UAE) said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mohammed Gad as CEO for Standard Chartered Egypt. Mohammed has extensive expertise in the region and a strong track record.  Mohammed will lead the Bank’s market expansion, strengthen our client base, product and service offering expansion, and network consolidation in support of the nation’s aspirations for economic progress. I have no doubt that this appointment will strengthen our position in the Egyptian market and the region.”

Standard Chartered operates in Egypt through its Standard Chartered Bank Egypt entity licensed by the Central Bank of Egypt.
