Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, launched the integrated digital Environmental Impact Assessment system “IDEIA”, as part of the digital transformation component of the Green Sustainable Industry (GSI) Program.

The launch was attended by Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Major General Hany Rashad, Governor of Suez, as well as development partners and international organizations.

Dr. Manal Awad emphasized that the launch of IDEIA marks a new step toward digitizing environmental processes and modernizing government services, helping simplify and accelerate procedures while maintaining all required environmental standards and regulations.

The IDEIA system enables investors to submit and track Environmental Impact Assessment applications digitally, follow the progress of their applications, reduce reliance on paperwork, save time and effort, improve operational efficiency, and enhance data quality.

The system also enables data integration and exchange among relevant authorities, supporting faster decision-making, strengthening transparency and governance, and creating a clearer and more efficient investment environment.

The Minister stressed that facilitating investment and protecting the environment are complementary objectives, emphasizing that the success of the digital transformation depends not only on technology, but also on the efficiency of human resources and the continuous development of the system.

IDEIA is being launched as part of the digital transformation component of the Environmental Affairs Agency under the Green Sustainable Industry (GSI) Program, funded by the European Investment Bank, the European Union, and the French Development Agency, with the participation of the Egyptian Government, with total financing of up to €271 million.
