The Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates is preparing to begin exporting its products to China for the first time, after successfully completing the necessary export requirements and registering with Chinese customs, in a move that coincides with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Cairo and the two countries’ desire to deepen bilateral trade.

Engineer Ahmed El-Sebaie, General Manager of the Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates, said the group had obtained the certificate required to export its products to China and had also completed its registration with Chinese customs, paving the way for exports to begin during the coming period.

El-Sebaie added that the group has begun preparing the team responsible for the Chinese market, which will handle communication with companies and customers, understand the nature of the market and study consumer needs.

He explained that pasta and flour are among the main products the group is currently targeting for export to China.

El-Sebaie stressed that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Cairo represents a strong boost to economic and trade relations between Egypt and China and opens the door to expanding cooperation opportunities between companies in both countries, particularly in light of Chinese measures supporting the access of African products to the Chinese market.

He noted that the visit enhances opportunities for Egyptian companies to build new partnerships and increase their exports to one of the world’s largest consumer markets.

El-Sebaie revealed that the group received a Chinese delegation last month representing one of the largest bakery companies in China to discuss cooperation opportunities, particularly in the flour sector, noting that the talks are still in the preparatory stage.

He stressed that the Chinese market represents a major opportunity for Egyptian food products given its enormous size and large number of consumers, but succeeding in the market requires a careful study of the nature of Chinese consumers and their preferences, as well as building a strong network of commercial relationships.

El-Sebaie pointed out that China’s implementation of a “zero-tariff” policy on products coming from African countries would enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products and create greater opportunities for Egyptian companies to expand in the Chinese market.

He stressed that the prices of the group’s products are capable of competing in the Chinese market, expecting the new customs facilitation measures to support opportunities for Egyptian exports and increase their presence during the coming period.

The Egyptian Swiss Group’s moves toward the Chinese market began proactively some time before Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Cairo, amid efforts by Egypt and China to deepen economic and trade relations and open broader areas for trade and investment between the two countries.

About the Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates

The Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates is one of the largest companies operating in Egypt’s food industries sector. It began operations in 1995 in grain and flour trading before expanding into manufacturing through the establishment of mills in Borg El Arab and 10th of Ramadan City, and adding pasta, concentrates and sauce production, in addition to owning silos for wheat storage.

The group’s production base includes pasta, milling and concentrates activities. The current production capacity of its milling business stands at around 45,000 tonnes per month through its two mills in 10th of Ramadan City and Borg El Arab, while the production capacity of its concentrates business reaches around 3,800 tonnes per month. The group also exports its products to more than 60 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, compared with more than 40 countries in 2025.

Exports currently account for around 80% of total sales of pasta, flour and sauce products, compared with 30% five years ago, while the group allocates around 20% of its manufactured products to the domestic market, alongside its grain trading business, particularly wheat and corn.

During the first half of 2026, the Egyptian Swiss Group maintained a share of around 15% of Egypt’s total flour exports and around 10% of pasta exports.
