Raya Holding for Financial Investments has announced the appointment of Zakaria Nabil as Chief Executive Officer of Raya Trade, succeeding Bassem Megahed.

The appointment marks a new chapter for Raya Trade, one of Raya Holding’s core portfolio companies and a key contributor to the Group’s revenues. With an established presence across consumer electronics, retail, distribution, and after-sales services, Raya Trade continues to strengthen its market position and expand its capabilities in response to the evolving consumer technology landscape.

Zakaria brings more than two decades of experience spanning technology, strategy, sales, retail, distribution, and commercial transformation, including a long-standing career with Vodafone across Egypt and international operations.

Most recently, he served as Managing Executive, Sales & Distribution at Vodafone Egypt, where he led the company’s multi-channel consumer sales and distribution network, spanning approximately 700 stores and more than 5,000 employees, with responsibility across retail, technology sales, franchise partnerships, and distribution.

Throughout his career at Vodafone, Zakaria held several senior leadership roles across corporate and SME sales, government sales, enterprise products and solutions, strategy, program management, and information security, bringing together extensive commercial and technology experience.

Zakaria holds a B.Sc. in Telecommunications and Electronics from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, a master’s in business information technology from Middlesex University, an MBA with a focus on Strategic Planning from Heriot-Watt University, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Bradford. Alongside his executive career, he has contributed to executive education, teaching strategy and international management at Nile University and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, in addition to serving as an AUC-certified instructor in Sales and Marketing.

Ahmed Khalil, Group CEO of Raya Holding, commented:

“Raya Trade has been an important part of Raya’s journey and remains one of the Group’s core portfolios and largest revenue contributors. As the retail and consumer technology landscape continues to evolve, our focus is on building on the company’s scale and capabilities while creating new avenues for sustainable growth.

We are pleased to welcome Zakaria Nabil to Raya’s leadership team. His extensive experience across technology, sales, retail, distribution, and large-scale commercial operations brings a strong combination of capabilities that is highly relevant to Raya Trade and the opportunities ahead. We look forward to working with him as we build the company’s next chapter and further strengthen its position in Egypt and Nigeria.”

Khalil also expressed his appreciation to outgoing CEO Bassem Megahed:

“I would also like to thank Bassem for his leadership and the significant contribution he has made to Raya Trade and the wider Group. Under his leadership, Raya Trade evolved into one of Egypt’s strongest distributors and retailers, expanded across new channels and markets, and established a strong international presence, particularly in Nigeria. Beyond the business growth, Bassem developed a strong pipeline of talent, many of whom continue to hold key leadership positions across Raya Group. We are grateful for his commitment over the years and wish him every success in his next chapter.”

Commenting on his appointment, Zakaria Nabil said:

“After many years with Vodafone, moving into a new chapter is a significant step for me. What attracted me to Raya is the Group’s entrepreneurial mindset, diversified portfolio, and ambition to build and scale businesses across sectors and markets. Raya Trade, in particular, brings together many areas where I have built extensive experience — technology, retail, distribution, customer experience, and commercial transformation —within a business of significant scale and a strong market position.

I look forward to building on the strong foundation and success established under Bassem’s leadership, and to working with Raya’s leadership team and the talented team at Raya Trade to accelerate growth, expand into new opportunities, and continue creating value for our customers and partners in Egypt and beyond.”

Zakaria Nabil assumes his role as Chief Executive Officer of Raya Trade effective October 1, 2026.
