Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK–Egypt), announced receiving the ISO/IEC 27001 certification in Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), making it one of the very few banks in Egypt to achieve this prestigious international accreditation in recognition of the Bank’s efficiency in applying the highest standards of governance and information security.
The recent certificate, received from Alcumus “ISOQAR”, the UK based accredited certification body, is a poof of the robust systems in place and the Bank’s commitment to managing information and protecting customers’ data and assets. This recent accreditation plays a pivotal role in building trust within the Egyptian banking sector through offering innovative products and services while ensuring all controls are set to manage risks related to technology breach and provide customers with a highly secure banking experience.
ABK-Egypt reaffirms obtaining this certificate is a competitive advantage which reflects the Bank’s efforts in developing the technological infrastructure in accordance with the highest standards of information security and quality management on a global scale, to ensure customer satisfaction as well as confidentiality and integrity. Also, the Bank adopts an innovative approach to managing, operating, and monitoring data systems and reducing information security risks.
In a vastly changing technological landscape, adhering to customer data protection standards becomes more difficult, but the Bank has the expertise to provide secure technical solutions while applying best practices and security procedures for the Bank’s workflow.
It is worth mentioning that the process for obtaining this certification started in 2021 and this highlights the tremendous commitment made by the Information Security Team in cooperation with all divisions across the Bank to apply the standard requirements which shall endorse the Bank’s credibility and brand power before our customers, partners, regulator, and other stakeholders.
Requirements for obtaining the ISO/27001:2013 certification relies on the Bank’s compliance to a comprehensive program that includes 14 domains and 114 controls to ensure the application of all information security controls, the protection of customer data and meeting the legal, regulatory, and business requirements as well as empower cyber security resilience and spread awareness of security risks.
