Danone Egypt and the Egyptian Food Bank Join Forces to Secure Food Supplies to the less privileged Egyptian Families

The Egyptian Food Bank and Danone Egypt joined forces to secure food supplies to the less privileged families in Egypt during the holy month of Ramadan. The cooperation entails Danone Egypt’s donation of one million yogurt cups under EFB’s Iftaar Saeem Program. As part of the program, the yogurt cups will be distributed to as many Egyptian families in need during Ramadan across different governorates, such as Giza, Assiut, Fayoum, Qena, and Luxor, among others.

“Iftaar Saeem Program by the Egyptian Food Bank not only aims to secure food for the most vulnerable categories in Egyptian society, but it also strives to provide healthy and safe food with the highest nutritional values and quality, to contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and food security, building on our unique expertise in food distribution through our strong database. Moreover, I would also like to seize this opportunity to thank Danone Egypt for joining forces with us in fighting hunger by offering this generous donation, which embodies its willingness to participate in Iftaar Saeem Program”, said Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of The Egyptian Food Bank.

For his part, Hesham Radwan, General Manager at Danone Egypt & North East Africa, said: “We are proud to partner with the Egyptian Food Bank, one of the largest and most credible NGOs in Egypt, with a humanitarian goal to distribute healthy food to people in need, by supporting the local food security, to ensure food is delivered to the most in need, across Egypt.  Since September of last year, Danone Egypt has joined forces with EFB with a goal to eradicate food waste in Egypt. The partnership entails Danone Egypt’s daily donation of yogurt surpluses to the Egyptian Food Bank, to be distributed in schools and orphanages, as well as underprivileged families”.

The cooperation between the Egyptian Food Bank and Danone Egypt falls within EFB’s endeavours to achieve an ambitious target of distributing 50 million meals throughout Ramadan under the Iftaar Saeem Program. Being one of the largest activities executed under the slogan “Food … A Basic Life Need”, Iftaar Saeem Program serves nearly 2.4 million people in various governorates across Egypt.
