Japan Tobacco International (JTI) collaborated with Ketharet Dawood NGO – an organization that seeks to provide community services in essential fields like education, training, and economic empowerment – to launch an important initiative for the third consecutive year. The initiative aims to empower women in Menoufia and the surrounding villages. With an investment of $150,000 since its launch in 2021, the initiative’s goal is to empower over 120 women by offering moral support, which includes training, learning the basics of doing and managing self-employment. In addition to financial support to get the machines and necessary equipment to sew and embroider.
Mariana Magdy, General Manager of Japan Tobacco International (JTI), said “We’re proud of our collaboration with Ketharet Dawood NGO in this important initiative, as we believe in the significant role of women in the society, and strive to support and empower them to improve their economic and social status. We are also keen that this program provides new opportunities for the Egyptian women in Menoufia, and builds a bright future for them and their families.”
“The initiative coincides with our commitment to contribute to the development of Egyptian society and at the same time promote the role of women in a comprehensive and sustainable manner. Therefore, we collaborate to provide women with the necessary resources and skills to establish their own projects, benefiting them both financially and morally. At the closing ceremony, an exhibition will be held, showcasing women’s project outcomes”, added Mariana.
Mr. Mamdouh Abdo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ketharet Dawood NGO highlighted: “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Japan Tobacco International for the third consecutive year in supporting women’s professional growth in different fields like shoe manufacturing, in addition to other topics focusing on women’s and children’s health. We aim to raise conscious mothers, who can follow the important health rules to support their families. The initiative served nearly 250 participants in the past two years.”
“As part of this year’s collaboration, we will be offering literacy classes, educational programs, and an E-Marketing specialization to help women stay updated with technology”, added Mr. Abdo.
The joint effort aims to empower women in Menoufia through sustained support, education, and skills development, leading to a brighter future that strengthens their roles and contributes to improving the quality of life in the community.
