Solomon Baumgartner: One of our key objectives at Lafarge Egypt is supporting efforts to raise awareness on human rights in the work environment.
Cairo –March 2022: Lafarge Egypt, a member of Holcim Group, within its efforts in maintaining commitment to its social responsibility, is organizing an awareness training program on human rights in the work environment. The workshop will be held throughout the month of March via “Video Conference”, where experts will voluntary share their knowledge & expertise with invitees from the journalism and media sector.
“One of our key objectives at Lafarge Egypt is supporting efforts to raise awareness on human rights in the work environment. Accordingly, we are proudly collaborating with a group of experts to organize this training program. Solomon Baumgartner Aviles, CEO of Lafarge Egypt, said.
The workshop’s sessions will be voluntarily presented, by: Lawyer/ Marwa Al-Khodari, Partner in ALC Alieldean Weshahi & Partners, and Dr. Nihal El-Magharbel, Member in the Egyptian Senate, in addition to Lawyer Nihad Abu al-Qumsan, human rights lawyer, President of the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights, and Member of the National Council for Human Rights.
Moreover, the workshop will raise awareness of the Human Rights obligations in the work place, such as: health and safety standards, rights related to environmental work conditions, human rights and good governance, women’s rights in the work environment, child labor, as well as showcasing the work environment of Lafarge Egypt.
Lafarge Egypt has also announced an award for the best article written by journalists and media professionals supporting the goal of raising awareness on human rights in the work environment. Dr. Abdel Moneim Saeed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, will kindly evaluate the articles that will join for the competition, and name the winners.
This training program offered by Lafarge Egypt in the year 2022 is one of various conducted by Lafarge Egypt. In 2021 the training program focused on Sustainable Development and Green Economy, where the same concept of cooperating with expertise, from reputable institutions prevailed. Last year in the training program Lafarge Egypt cooperated with the Engineering Consulting Group, Plastic Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
