Emirates NBD Egypt has released its third comprehensive Carbon Footprint Report, covering the bank’s operational activities during 2025. The report measures the carbon emissions generated by the bank’s day-to-day operations, enabling it to establish realistic targets for reducing its environmental impact in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards.

The report reflects the bank’s continued commitment to managing its operational carbon footprint and reducing emissions responsibly. It analyses emissions resulting from energy consumption, transportation and logistics, translating this data into actionable measures that support the transition towards a low-carbon economy.

The report also reflects Emirates NBD Egypt’s approach to integrating sustainability into its operational practices through continuous monitoring of environmental performance and enhanced measurement and disclosure mechanisms in line with relevant international standards. It serves as an important tool in supporting the bank’s future plans, improving resource efficiency and embedding more sustainable operational practices to achieve a positive, long-term environmental impact.

Amr ElShafie, CEO and Managing Director of Emirates NBD Egypt, said: “The release of our third Carbon Footprint Report marks an important milestone in our journey to embed sustainability across our operations. We remain focused on balancing business growth with reducing our environmental impact. Accurately measuring our operational carbon footprint enables us to make informed strategic decisions and support smart, long-term investments that enhance asset value, while reinforcing our role as a responsible financial partner contributing to Egypt’s transition towards a low-carbon economy.”

Amgad Doma, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer at Emirates NBD Egypt, added: “This report provides us with a comprehensive, data-driven view of our sources of emissions, helping us identify and prioritize opportunities for reduction. We are not simply monitoring the numbers; we are translating them into practical solutions that can be integrated into our daily operations. Our aim is to foster a culture of sustainability and encourage environmental innovation among our employees, who play a key role in advancing our journey towards creating a lasting positive impact on society and the environment.”

The release of the report reflects Emirates NBD Egypt’s proactive approach to environmental responsibility, using detailed emissions analysis to inform reduction plans, create value for stakeholders and support Egypt’s broader transition towards a green economy.

It is worth noting that the bank also publishes an annual Sustainability Report, which highlights its environmental, social and governance achievements. In addition, Emirates NBD Egypt publishes an annual Financed Emissions Report, which measures the environmental impact associated with its lending and investment portfolio. Together, these reporting practices reinforce the bank’s commitment to advancing sustainable and responsible finance in the Egyptian market.
