MO Group, a producer of candy and chocolate, has carried out a community initiative to support underprivileged children as the new academic year begins, distributing the group’s candy and chocolate products along with school supplies as part of its corporate social responsibility program targeting underserved areas.
The initiative aims to combine support for some of the children’s educational needs with efforts to bring them joy at the start of the school year through the distribution of the group’s candy and chocolate products.
Hamdy El-Abrak, Chairman of MO Group, said the initiative builds on the community activities that the group regularly implements, with a particular focus on children and underprivileged groups, especially during periods when families face additional needs, such as the beginning of the academic year.
He added that through the initiative, the group aims to create a positive atmosphere for children as they begin the new school year by distributing candy and other products offered by the company.
El-Abrak explained that MO Group had previously implemented similar initiatives in recent years across several areas, including Al-Asmarat, Batn El-Baqara and Old Cairo, distributing products, candy and a variety of supplies to children.
He noted that the group is gradually expanding the scope of its community initiatives in terms of both the number of beneficiaries and the areas targeted, while also developing the type of support provided to better reflect children’s needs and the timing of each initiative.
He said the decision to launch the initiative at the beginning of the academic year reflects the importance of this period for families, given the need to purchase school tools and supplies, adding that the group was keen for the initiative to provide practical support for children alongside its recreational aspect.
Supporting Children at the Heart of MO Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility
El-Abrak said children and schools represent a key pillar of MO Group’s corporate social responsibility program, as they are among the groups the company seeks to reach directly through its various initiatives.
He added that the group’s role is not limited to distributing candy, but also extends to providing supplies that children genuinely need, making the initiatives more closely aligned with their daily requirements and strengthening their social impact.
He explained that the company plans to continue implementing similar initiatives on various occasions, whether at the start of the academic year, during holidays or on other social occasions, while increasing the number of children benefiting from the initiatives in the coming periods.
He noted that the group views corporate social responsibility as an integral part of its activities in the candy and chocolate sector, and believes that the growth of the company’s business should be accompanied by an expansion of its contribution to society. Its community activities also extend to supporting hospitals, orphan care homes and children’s hospitals, as well as efforts to bring joy to vulnerable and underprivileged children.
The MO Group chairman said the company will continue building on the progress achieved through its previous initiatives, with a focus on reaching more children in underserved areas and providing initiatives that combine meeting essential needs with bringing joy to beneficiaries.
