Under the theme “Supporting Egyptian Exports,” the 77th edition of Cairo Fashion & Tex kicked off on Thursday, with an exclusively Egyptian participation, bringing together more than 350 Egyptian factories.

Mohamed El-Sherif, Chairman of Pyramids International Group, stated that Cairo Fashion & Tex features exclusively Egyptian factories, with no foreign or Arab companies participating — a deliberate move to strengthen the national industry, highlight local products, and boost sector exports.

El-Sherif said that the export-focused edition of Cairo Fashion & Tex attracts buyer delegations, importers, and visitors totaling over 1,000 international buyers from 20 countries worldwide, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Rwanda, Italy, Romania, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Brazil, the United States, and Canada. The exhibition also welcomed, for the first time, participants from countries such as Russia and Pakistan.

El-Sherif expected that the value of deals and contracts concluded during the three days of the exhibition would reach at least $60m.

He further added that the 35-year reputation of Cairo Fashion & Tex guarantees the credibility of both buyers and exhibitors, adding that the exhibition strictly excludes any company that fails to honor its commitments.

Additionally, the exhibition covers a wide range of sectors, including men’s and women’s apparel, underwear, sportswear, and various types of fabrics, as well as ready-made garment production supplies and sewing machinery — all contributing to the development of the local industry, El-Sherif disclosed.

El-Sherif said, “The exhibition’s program will include direct B2B meetings between visiting trade delegations and Egyptian exhibitors, along with the option of factory field visits for interested buyers, further strengthening trust in Egyptian products and facilitating the conclusion of deals.”

He highlighted the participation of official delegations from chambers of commerce and apparel associations in Arab countries such as Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia, underscoring their role in fostering investment partnerships and enhancing regional cooperation.

El-Sherif elaborated that Egypt has established itself as a major player in the ready-made garment industry and exports, driven by its high quality and competitive pricing compared to leading global producers.

He added, “Egyptian products have become more appealing than their Chinese counterparts — not only in terms of price, but also quality and delivery speed. Today, we are competing strongly with Turkey, and we may soon reach, or even surpass, the level of China.”

Commenting on Pyramids International Group’s portfolio and expansion plans, El-Sherif stated that the company organizes nearly 100 exhibitions and conferences annually across the globe, keeping its schedule fully booked with no immediate plans to move into new sectors.

However, Cairo is set to host several flagship events in the coming months, including the Lingerie & Home Exhibition from 26 to 28 November, the 78th edition of Cairo Fashion & Tex from 2 to 4 October, and the Leather Exhibition on 19 December, he concluded.
